Occasionally, patients in the hospital have a need for a longer acute care stay due to their illness, multiple injuries, trauma, or medical complications. The unique medical needs of these types of patients require more intensive, focused hospital care for optimal recovery. Our client's hospitals are designed specifically to meet the needs of these types of extended acute care patients. Services are provided to medically complex patients who have suffered recent catastrophic illnesses or injuries and require an extended length of stay in an acute care environment. Pre-admission staff are registered nurses who provide screening assessments at no cost. Patients who come to this hospital are cared for by a team of highly trained medical professionals who collaborate and coordinate the services provided in a caring, yet highly technical environment. The goal is to meet the needs of each patient while involving families in both care and outcomes. In addition to medical care and treatment, supportive care is provided to patients and families, including discharge planning, social services, pastoral counseling and family consultation. Each patient is also assigned a case manager who will guide their case from admission through discharge.
